About HeartMath
HeartMath is a system of scientifically validated techniques, tools and technology designed to
reduce stress, manage emotions and improve mental, physical, and emotional health by
increasing “heart coherence”. It focuses on the heart-brain connection to help shift from “fight or
flight” response to a state of balance, resilience and positive emotion.
HeartMath was added to my “toolbox” in 2024 when I decided to complete the Building Personal
Resilience Coaching Certification program. I was curious what HeartMath was after hearing
about it and the concept of heart coherence really resonated with me energetically.
Mind body medicine comes from the heart. Brain cells exist within heart muscle.
The heart contains a complex network of approximately 40,000 neurons- often called the “little
brain”of the intrinsic nervous system. Allowing the heart to learn, remember and feel, which
helps regulate functions like heart rhythm.
We can learn to generate coherent rhythms by activating renewing emotions like gratitude,
appreciation and patience. HeartMath coherence techniques will enable you to shift from
depleting emotions and energy drainage to a state of aware energy management, emotional
self-regulation, mental clarity and optimal performance in which the heart, mind and emotions
are aligned and in sync.
Physiologically the immune, hormonal and nervous systems function in a state of energetic
coordination.But it takes more than just thinking positive thoughts, it's about genuinely feeling
renewing and regenerative emotions to create coherence, to recharge your inner battery and
plug energy leaks!
Your resilience capacity can be thought of as the amount of energy you have stored within your
inner battery. Resilience can be defined as our ability to bounce back, so to speak!
It is the capacity to prepare for, recover from and adapt in the face of stress, challenge or
adversity.The greater your capacity and resilience, you will have more amounts of energy
available. Having more energy enhances your ability to self-regulate your emotions and
behaviours so you can choose how to respond rather than automatically react- and make
clearer choices!
I am looking for balance and trying to maintain my own sense of inner peace amid external
chaos around me!
My work is all about making a difference for people. To reduce human suffering.
Mine and yours- ours.
I think the key to reaching this is by promoting our own self-care with self-awareness leading to
self-empowerment.
It’s not selfish. It’s self-care for you. How can we care for others if we don’t devote care and time
to our own wellness and wellbeing? It has a flow on effect upon our family, loved ones, animal
companions, our community and humanity.
I am passionate to share with others what has worked for me. It’s my dharma. My life work.
